One objector, Victor Christie, read correspondence from the EU comission querying the legality of the project.Conor Loughrey from the Roads Service said that 38% of the current route is substandard, and there’s been been 15 fatal accidents on the A5 in the last four years. He said the new road would be positive in growing the economy.He said the argument of some objectorss that a rail link would be preferable was outside the scope of the inquiry.
