Department SummaryThe San José State University Department of Design seekscandidates for a full -time tenure track faculty position at theintersection of interior design and emerging technologies. Theappointment will be made at the level of Assistant Professor. Theanticipated start date is August 2021.The Department of Designis committed to design, research, and scholarship at the highestlevel. Because emerging technologies are becoming ubiquitousin our everyday lives we are also interested in the ethics andpolitics, and social complexity of how these technologies are used.Ideal candidates should be asking questions about how such advanceseither contribute to or mitigate the widening gap between those whohave access to such technologies and those who do not.Candidates must also demonstrate potential to teach at theintersection of design, technology and culture through studios,workshops and/or seminars to a large undergraduate population froma diversity of backgrounds.
