moe. Brings “Atlanta” To Portland For Night Two At The State Theatre [Photos]

first_imgVic Brazen Buffalo-native jam favorites moe. continued their sparse run of early-2018 dates with their second evening at Portland, ME’s State Theatre on Saturday night (see Friday’s recap here). Playing to a nearly packed-to-capacity crowd, the band’s infectious energy was obvious right out of the gates with the show opener “Billy Goat”, which led into “Don’t Wanna Be”. After “Crab Eyes”, the band took a moment to tell a cool story about Col. Bruce Hampton before going into the band’s ultra-rare, never recorded “Atlanta”–played only a handful of times before. Up next was the second-ever version of “LL3”, which was debuted at the band’s first show back since bassist Rob Derhak beat cancer, earlier this month at the Capitol Theatre. To close the first set, Derhak playfully wore the infamous bear suit during an extended “Bearsong”, which sandwiched “Tubing The River Styx” and “The Pit” all the way through. The second set was highlighted by an electric version of “Seat of my Pants”, during which Al Schnier went into the crowd and passed around his guitar. The “Seat of my Pants” jam led into the 1999 Fatboy classic, “Sensory Deprivation Bank”, before the band segued into “New Hope For The New Year”–an inspirational song that was also debuted during the band’s Capitol Theatre run earlier this month. The second set closed with a trio of fan-favorites, “Bring You Down” > “Kyle’s Song” > “Kids”, before moe. returned to the stage with No Doy‘s “Spine of a Dog”.Check out the full gallery from Saturday night’s performance below, courtesy of Vic Brazen.Setlist: Moe. | State Theatre | Portland, ME | 2/17/18I: Billy Goat > Don’t Wanna Be, Crab Eyes, *ATL, LL3 > #Bearsong > #Tubing The River Styx > #The Pit > #BearsongII: Prestige Worldwide, Seat of my Pants > Sensory Deprivation Bank, New Hope for The New Year, Bring You Down > Kyle’s Song > KidsE: Spine of a Dog*Told a story about the origin of the song and Col.
