Photo credit: GIS NewsThe Dominica Council on Aging (DCOA) is reporting as “successful” a visit to Martinique with members of the senior citizens of that French island.The twelve member delegation which left Dominica one week ago returned on Tuesday.President of the Dominica Council on Aging Evander Joseph said several aspects in respect to the aging population were addressed.He said a document was also signed to strengthen ties with both organizations.“A delegation from the Dominica Council on Aging which consisted of twelve persons has returned to Dominica from Martinique. The visit was requested by the Senior Citizens of Martinique and the purpose to renew and strengthen ties with the association and to strengthen ties with the people involved. We also officially sign an agreement that would commit both organizations on beneficial actions. We held extensive tours to visit scenic beauty spots and places of interest island wide, cultural performances and moment of entertainment which afforded both parties adequate time to interact and socialize one another,” he said.He said the agreement will not only strengthen ties between the two organizations but will also create a great bond of friendship beneficial to both parties.“Both senior citizens of Dominica and Martinique will be strengthened. It will also develop an exchange and promote Caribbean unity among the elderly there,” he added.The association of Martinique visited Dominica in August when 20 members spent four days on the island.Dominica Vibes Newslast_img
