first_imgGAA: Joe Kernan’s preparations for the International Rules series has been dealt a huge blow following the news that Michael Murphy has opted out of the forthcoming tests against Australia. Murphy has captained the side for past two years and has been a hugely influential player for the Irish side during that period. However, he informed the Irish management of his decision earlier in the week. It’s believed Murphy’s reasons for opting out – was that he wanted some time off so he can be fresh for Donegal’s National League campaign which gets underway at the end of January. The International rules squad are currently in training in Ashbourne and players from Dublin and Kerry are expected to join up with the rest of the squad later in the week.Ireland host Australia at Croke Park on November 21st. It is not yet known if Neil McGee and Patrick McBrearty who have played for the Irish side in recent years have been called up by Joe Kernan. MICHAEL MURPHY OPTS OUT OF IRISH INTERNATIONAL RULES TEAM was last modified: September 23rd, 2015 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:Home-page Sportnewslast_img
