PODCAST Beechwood Doughnuts cofounder on Conversations with Goodman

Conversations with Goodman host Susan LeBlanc talks to Brock alumna and Beechwood Doughnuts cofounder Tayler Book (BA ’14) about her entrepreneurial journey. Before her final year of study, Book knew she would soon be starting a business, so she took an accounting course in Brock’s Goodman School of Business, a course that would later help her be prepared and understand the process of securing startup funding.Starting with a zero dollar marketing budget, Book built a strong brand identity for Beechwood from day one using social media, resulting in a line of hungry locals that stretched down the block on opening day.Almost two years later, Beechwood has enjoyed tremendous success and currently employs 18 staff members and sells from 800 to 2,500 doughnuts each day.Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited the doughnut shop earlier this year, and Book recounts the unique experience that brought the already-popular shop to new heights of fame.Book’s advice to the many student entrepreneurs at Brock is not to get discouraged in the startup phase as it can be a long process but can pay off in the end. This podcast is the latest in the Conversations with Goodman series which is produced by the Goodman Marketing, Communications and Alumni Relations team and features guests from the Goodman community.
