The sacrifice of U.S. Army Cpl. Jeremiah Johnson, a local soldier who died after being injured in action in Baghdad, Iraq, will be honored this weekend on the 12th anniversary of his death.Johnson was injured on Dec. 26, 2006, and died Jan. 6, 2007, in Landstuhl, Germany.The Community Military Appreciation Committee is asking the Patriot Guard Riders and any other community members to stand with them in honor of the Clark County man.CMAC is holding a series of memorials honoring local soldiers killed in action. The group plans to hold such ceremonies every three years — on the anniversary of the military member’s death — and encourages participation from the family and community.The event will be held at the Clark County War Memorial at the Fort Vancouver Barracks, located near the intersection of Fort Vancouver Way and McClellan Drive. Johnson’s family and other attendees will arrive at 12:30 p.m. Sunday. The ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. and last around 30 minutes.
