first_img21Feb Rep. Howrylak: Clawson, Troy among places in line for additional road funding Rep. Martin Howrylak of Troy joined House colleagues today in approving legislation that would significantly boost money for road improvements across Michigan this year. The $175 million bill includes additional money for road preservation and construction, with much of the funding going to local governments. Oakland County would receive an estimated $7 million in additional funds. Also, Troy would get an estimated $564,000 more and Clawson would get an extra $72,000.“This winter has been unusually rough on our roads,” Howrylak said. “More potholes are popping up every day. This additional funding would significantly help our road crews as they work to improve driving conditions for all of us.”The money is left over from a previous state government budget cycle and is already available, meaning no budget cuts or additional fees or taxes are required for the investment. The money included in the bill approved today comes in addition to previous changes that provide more funding for road and bridge projects across the state.House Bill 4321 advances to the Senate for further consideration.
