Panaji: A stolen handbag, containing ₹50,000 cash along with other valuables, was recovered from the Konkan Kanya Express on Friday by a Railway Protection Force (RPF) team led by sub-inspector Sanjay Nikam.Mr. Nikam was approached by Ketan Suresh Kongavkar and his wife Julia Jose Fernandes, who complained that their black leather hand bag containing cash, some foreign currency, a mobile, a passport and other valuables had gone missing. The sub-inspector and other RPF staff attended to the couple’s complaint and searched the coach they were in. Mr. Nikam then accosted a co-passenger, Kamal Kumar, who was reportedly moving in a suspicious manner, and made enquiries with him in his cabin. The missing leather black bag was found hidden under Kumar’s seat, containing the cash and all the valuables.The accused and the complainant were later taken to Roha police station, where a case was registered under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), based on the couple’s complaint.
